Can I drill a hole in shower tile?
Standard drill bits don’t work on tile, but not to worry. Ceramic tile can be drilled with a carbide bit, while glass and porcelain call for a diamond-tipped bit. It will drill any type of tile.
Can you drill holes in ceramic pots?
It’s possible to drill a hole in a ceramic pot with a regular drill bit. However, using a regular bit on unglazed ceramic is much easier. Glazed ceramic, which is what most store-bought pots are, will make it hard for the bit to “grab on” to the pot to start drilling the hole.
Can you put screws in tile?
Unlike with drywall, you can’t just drill the screw straight in because the tiles will crack, leaving you with an unwanted repair job. Besides that, the screw alone is not strong enough to make a hole in the tile. Fit your drill with a carbide -tipped tile drilling bit that is the same size as your wall anchor.
Is it better to drill through tile or grout?
If not done correctly, the ceramic tiles can crack, and the grout can crumble or break away. Grout isn’t as stable and strong as tile, and drilling into grout isn’t recommended.
